1. Where can I get information about current job openings with Erath County?

2. May I personally contact the individual in the hiring department who will conduct the interviews?

We discourage applicants from contacting the hiring department until they have been selected for an interview. The Human Resource Department forwards the applications to the proper department. After reviewing, the department decides, which applicants to interview. Not all applicants will be interviewed.

3. May I apply online?

Not at this time. You will need to download and print the applications and Personal History Statements and then fill them out. You may bring the completed forms to the Erath County H.R. Office located at 100 W Washington Street, Stephenville, Texas; fax them; scan and email or mail them. Applications may be emailed to Human Resources.

4. May I bring my application directly to the office of the department I'm applying to?

No. All applications must be submitted to the Erath County Human Resource Office located at 100 W Washington Street, Stephenville, Texas.

5. May I submit a resume?

We do not accept resumes in lieu of a completed application. However, you may attach a resume or other required documents to your application. Resumes may be submitted as a supplement to the online application. Resumes are not accepted in lieu of applications and/or the Work History section.

6. May I submit an application even if there isn't a current opening?

No. Erath County Personnel accepts applications only for currently open positions. All applications are kept on file for 2 years after submission.

7. Is there a limit on the number of jobs that I can apply for?

There is no limit to the number of positions you may apply for. 

8. Can you check on the status of my application?

Human Resources can tell you if we have received your application and if it has been sent to the proper department. Each department handles their own interview process and will contact you if they would like to set up an interview.

9. When do I need to fill out a Personal History Statement?

You will need a completed Personal History Statement for all Sheriff Office/Law Enforcement/Fire Marshal positions.

12. What benefits are offered to employees?

• Health and dental insurance for the employee after a 90 day waiting period.

• Erath County and employees contribute to the Texas County & District Retirement System. The County also contributes to TCDRS for a supplemental death benefit for the employee. 

• The County also pays for CareFlite insurance for the employee and household family members. 

• Vacation, sick and holiday hours are accrued each pay period.
