Intermediate Crime Scene

Course # 2106


This course is mandated for all Peace Officers, desiring to advance their peace officers license.  Upon completion of this course the student will understand the necessities for a proper crime scene search.  The student will understand the various techniques involved in searching a crime scene and the collection of evidence.  The student will understand how to fingerprint evidence, along with what to do electronic evidence such as computers, cellular telephones and other media items.  The student will also have a simulated crime scene to process.  


The Instructor for this course is Chief Deputy Jeremy Woodruff.  Chief Deputy Woodruff has 19 years of law enforcement experience.  Chief Deputy Woodruff has served in the Patrol Division and CID divisions.  Chief Woodruff holds a Bachelors Degree from Liberty University and a Masters Degree from Liberty University.  Chief Deputy Woodruff is also a graduate of the Bill Blackwood Law Enforcement Management Institute of Texas.  Chief Deputy Woodruff spent 7 years in CID before being promoted to the rank of Captain. He was later prompted to the rank of Chief Deputy where he assists the Sheriff in the day to day operations of the Erath County Sheriff’s Office.  Chief Deputy Woodruff is a board member of the Texas Chief Deputies Association and a member of FBI-LEEDA where he completed the Trilogy leadership courses.  Chief Deputy Woodruff has investigated all variety of criminal offences from burglaries to homicides. Chief Deputy Woodruff has over 6,000 hours of continuing education training hours with TCOLE.    


The course consists of 8 hours of classroom instruction each day.  This course is a 40-hour course.  


The course will be taught June 12th 2023 through June 16th 2023. The hours of call will be 8 AM – 5 PM
